Custom software
Software built around how your business actually runs.
Off-the-shelf tools make you work their way. Custom software works yours. Infinitech is a custom software development studio in Auckland that designs and builds complete systems for New Zealand businesses: the application your staff use, the app your people in the field carry, the portal your customers log into, and the plumbing between them. One team, one fixed price, one person accountable from the first conversation to launch.
When custom software is the right call
Most businesses do not need custom software, and we will say so. The signal that you do is friction that no product on the market quite removes: a spreadsheet that three people fight over, a process that lives in one person's head, a subscription you pay for but use a tenth of, or a competitor who is simply faster because their systems talk to each other.
The other signal is scale. A process that took a minute when you had ten customers takes a full-time person at a thousand. At that point software that fits your process exactly usually pays for itself inside a year, and keeps paying.
What you get
A finished system, not a prototype. That means the screens your staff use every day, the administration tools to manage users, data and settings, the customer-facing side where people book, pay or look things up, and the reports you need to run the business. It also means the unglamorous parts that decide whether software survives: sign-in and permissions, backups, error handling, and documentation someone else could pick up.
You own everything. The source code sits in a repository under your name, the system runs in a cloud account you control, and every third-party service is registered to you. If you ever want a different developer, nothing stands in the way.
How the price works
Every project starts with a scoping conversation and ends that stage with a written scope and a fixed price. The scope is in plain English and lists what the system will do, screen by screen, so both sides know what finished means. Payment is tied to milestones, each of which is working software on a test server you can click through, not a status report.
Changes of mind happen, and they are handled as written change requests with their own price, agreed before the work is done. Nothing is slipped into an invoice.
Built to last, not to impress
We choose established, widely supported technology over whatever is fashionable this year, because your system needs to be maintainable in five years by whoever is around then. Web applications are built on mainstream frameworks, mobile apps are native on both Android and iPhone from a single codebase, and everything runs on the major cloud platforms.
After launch there is a thirty-day defect period included, and a monthly retainer if you want someone on call who already knows the system.
Questions people ask
Before you get in touch
- How long does a custom build take?
- Most systems take six to eight weeks from signed scope to launch. Larger builds are split into phases so you get something useful early rather than everything late.
- What does custom software cost in New Zealand?
- A focused internal tool or customer portal typically starts in the low tens of thousands of dollars. A full system with a mobile app, admin portal and payments is more. Every project is quoted as a fixed price before work starts, so you never carry the risk of an open-ended bill.
- Can you work with the systems we already use?
- Yes. Most builds connect to accounting, payment, email or CRM tools you already pay for rather than replacing them. Integration is part of the scope from day one.
- Can software replace the spreadsheets we run the business on?
- That is the most common starting point. We map what the spreadsheets actually do, keep the parts that work, and replace the rest with a system several people can use at once without overwriting each other. The spreadsheets usually survive as exports, not as the system of record.
- Do we need technical staff to run it?
- No. The system is designed so your existing staff can manage users, settings and day-to-day data themselves. Infinitech handles hosting, updates and anything technical under the support retainer if you want it.
