Networking, servers and hardware

The network and hardware your software stands on.

The best software in the world is useless on a network that drops out in the warehouse or a server nobody has backed up. Infinitech designs and installs the physical layer for businesses that run on it: office and site networks, Wi-Fi that reaches every corner, on-premise servers where the cloud is not the right answer, and the handhelds, printers and scanners your people use all day. Done with the same care as the software, by the same team.

Networks that reach the whole site

Offices, workshops, depots and yards each have their own problems: concrete walls, metal racking, long distances, equipment that interferes. Warehouse Wi-Fi fails for different reasons than office Wi-Fi, so a proper installation starts with a survey of the actual building, then a design that places access points and cabling where coverage is needed, separates guest, staff and equipment traffic, and leaves room to grow. The result is Wi-Fi that works at the back of the warehouse as well as it does at reception.

On-premise server setup where the cloud does not fit

Some workloads belong on site: a system that must keep running when the internet does not, equipment that needs a local controller, data that policy says must stay in the building, or simply a workload where a server pays for itself in months against a cloud bill. On-premise servers are specified for the job, set up with proper storage, power protection, remote management and tested backups, and documented so they are not a mystery in three years.

Devices chosen for the job

Phones, tablets, rugged handhelds, label and receipt printers, barcode scanners, card readers: the right device makes a field or floor system a pleasure to use, and the wrong one undermines it. Infinitech selects and tests hardware against the software it will run, sets devices up so they are managed centrally, and makes sure a replacement can be configured in minutes rather than hours.

Connected to the cloud, securely

Most businesses end up with a mix: some systems on site, some in the cloud, and several locations. Secure links between sites and the cloud, sensible firewalls, and sign-in tied to your Microsoft or Google accounts keep that mix simple to manage and safe. Everything is monitored, so a failing switch or a full disk is dealt with before it becomes a bad day.

Questions people ask

Before you get in touch

Do you handle the physical installation?
Yes, for networking and server work in the Auckland region, including cabling, access points, racks and devices. For sites further afield we design and specify, and work with a local installer.
Do you do office Wi-Fi installation in Auckland?
Yes. Office Wi-Fi installation is the most common request: a site survey, access points placed for real coverage, separate guest and staff networks, and cabling where it is needed. Warehouses and workshops get the same treatment with hardware chosen for the conditions.
What does a small business server cost?
A properly specified small business server with storage, power protection and tested backups is usually a one-off cost comparable to a year or two of the equivalent cloud spend, which is why it makes sense for steady, local workloads and not for everything.
Can you support hardware we already have?
Usually. Existing equipment is assessed first, and anything sound is kept and brought into a managed set-up. Replacement is recommended only where it is failing or holding the business back.
Is on-premise still a good idea with cloud available?
For some workloads, yes: anything that must keep working without internet, equipment control, local data requirements, or steady workloads where a server is cheaper over its life. The recommendation is made case by case with the costs laid out.
What about ongoing support?
Networks and servers are set up with remote monitoring and management, and covered under the same monthly retainer as software if you want someone on call.
