Office IT setup
A new office, working on day one.
Moving office, opening a second one or setting up properly for the first time: the IT decides whether everyone can actually work on Monday morning. We plan and install all of it for a fixed price, from the internet connection and Wi-Fi to the laptops, printers and accounts, and hand it over documented and working.
Start early: the internet takes longest
Getting fibre connected at a new address can take several weeks, and it is the one thing that can't be rushed. The first job on any move is ordering the connection, checking the building's cabling and planning a fallback for the first days in case the install slips.
Planned backwards from moving day
We plan everything back from the day you move: what gets ordered when, what we can set up in advance and what happens on the day. We configure equipment before it arrives, so moving day is about plugging in and testing, not installing.
Set up to be looked after
We set every device up for management from the start, switch security on, and have backups running before anyone saves a file. You can carry on with a managed plan, or we hand everything over fully documented if you would rather look after it yourselves.
What the fixed price covers
The quote lists every item: the network equipment, the accounts, each device, the installation and the testing. Setups for offices of up to 10 people start from $2,500, before hardware. Hardware is quoted separately, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
The office move checklist
Six to eight weeks before
- Order fibre at the new address and confirm the install date
- Check the data cabling and power for desks, printers and the network cabinet
- List every person, device and printer that is moving
- Decide what to replace rather than move
Two to four weeks before
- Design the Wi-Fi from the floor plan, with separate staff and guest networks
- Order network equipment, laptops and screens
- Arrange to move your phone numbers if you have landlines
- Set up and test new devices before they reach the office
Moving week
- Install and test the network and internet connection
- Set up printers, scanners and meeting room screens
- Test every desk: sign in, print, open shared files and join a call
- Check that backups ran after the move
First week in
- Walk the office for Wi-Fi dead spots
- Fix the small things staff report
- Hand over the documentation and the admin access
Questions people ask
Before you get in touch
- How far ahead should we plan an office move?
- Six to eight weeks if you can. Fibre at a new address is usually the slowest part. Two weeks is possible with a temporary mobile connection, but it costs more and leaves less room for surprises.
- Can you move us over a weekend?
- Yes. Most moves are planned so the office closes on Friday and opens on Monday with everything working. Weekend work is included in the fixed price, not added afterwards.
- Can we reuse our existing equipment?
- Usually some of it. Laptops and screens in good condition are kept. Old routers and switches are often replaced, because they are cheap and the most common cause of problems.
- Do you install cabling and Wi-Fi?
- Yes, for data points, network cabinets and Wi-Fi access points in the Auckland region. Building-wide recabling is quoted case by case.
